October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Well, as October is coming to an end I wanted to be sure I blogged something! October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Seeing all of the pink colors while out in almost ever store- I hope that reminded you to check yourself and spread the word!! I always get so excited when I see so much pink.....so excited, that i buy it....and think to myself- "I have soooo much pink ribbon stuff....but if i dont get it, i'll be mad- i'll use it for the 3 day!" Don't lie fellow 3 day walkers- I know you think the same thing!

The Breast Cancer 3 Day 2011 is still happening. In October The Philadelphia 3 day happens. Although I did not walk Philly this year- I did Boston- For some reason, walking in October just feels right. The weather is changing- its not too hot/ not too cold. Pink is the October color. and I have so many Philly 3 day friends I want to just be with them all.

During this month I was watching the news one morning before work. Usually I wake up too late to watch anything but this one morning, I turned on the TV. Julianna Rancic was on and she was talking about her story of wanting a baby. She has been trying IVF for a long time now and it has not worked. When she went to try again, the doctor stated to her that they wanted her to have a Mammogram before the next treatment. She didn't want to go ahead with this, no woman wants to, but she did...and they found something. Although I dont personally know who she is, hearing this news just upsets me. I am so happy they found this early enough so that she has a chance- and once she is better- she is going to try to have a baby again. In the interview she had, she stated, "I'm not going to give up, I want that baby. That baby will have saved my life."
To read more about her story click here.

Another person to talk about this October is Bridget Spence. I dont know her personally. She is a motivational Breast Cancer 3 Day coach who at this time is going through something that I wish she wasn't. Being a Breast Cancer Survivor at a young age, it is back just before her 30 th birthday. All of us 3 day walkers have been keeping her in out thoughts and prayers- wearing our pearls throughout the year as she Loves pearls. Her blog is absolutely inspirational and i recommend EVERYONE to read it. I follow this blog and it brings tears to my eyes every time i read it. She truly is a Hero. http://www.mybiggirlpants.blogspot.com/

So, In Conclusion to this being Breast Cancer awareness Month- Check Your Self. Check a Friend. Do what you need to do and help us FIND A CURE!

I am not sure if I will be walking again in 2012. I want to, my goodness I want to...so we will see. I would LOVE to check out another city soon- but i do love walking in Philly and in Boston! We'll see...Stay Tuned!
