Well, ALOT has happened since I last blogged about the 3day, lets see where to begin...
I after my first full 2 weeks of training everyday, it began to die down and instead of walking 7days a week, it went to 4-5 days a week, which is still NOT BAD. and I am still PROUD of myself. Last week I was walking my usual 6mile route when around mile 2 I felt a sharp sooting pain that went from my right knee up and around my hip. It hurt so bad, I almost called my husband, PJ to pick me up but i decided to push it....
I continued to walk a few more times, still hurting, still pushing it. The last training walk I did I decided to not care too much about the miles, but once it hurt, to head home. So again, it started around mile 2 although it was bearable and i wanted to keep going cause the weather was amazing....I made it 5miles till I called it quits on that walk. I called the Chiropractor that afternoon since the walk is next week, I wanted to have him see me because at this rate- I'd be taking the sweep van 2miles in on Day 1 and I dont want to do that unless I REALLLLY need to....
I went to the chiropractor Friday (yesterday) and he told me that I strained a muscle called the Sartorius muscle that begins at the knee and wraps up and around the hip. I traced exactly where I was feeling pain and he was shocked how I was able to trace the exact muscle. He gave me an adjustment and wants to see me 2 more times before next friday, my walk! He also said that if I didnt go in to see him before the walk, I def. would have ended up hurting myself and after these 3visits I will be fine for the walk and he is happy I am so involved with this cause. Thanks Dr. Larson! See you Tuesday!!!
Also a week or two ago, I got a phone call from a 3day coach, Heather. She asked me if I would be a flag holder at the Opening Ceremonies for the Boston 3day! I was so happy! awhile ago I emailed the coaches asking how they choose the flag holders and let them know that my team was interested. She let me know they had select spaces left and although the mother flag was taken, she would like me to hold the "Adventures" flag as this Journey has definately been an Emotionally Amazing Adventure!
Today I met 3 walkers outside of Stop n Shop in Plymouth having a coin drop for their team. "Team Tata's" I went over to them and told them I'd see them next week! lol They were very nice and they are walking with their mom. All of them had walked Boston a few times in the past and I found out that our camp site is in Wellesely, MA at a high school and the area we sleep on is Turf, which is good if it rains as turf absorbs the rain! Woohoo!!! They also said that it usually rains atleast one of the days but its not too bad, and alot of the places/houses we walk by have their sprinklers on. I am getting excited!!! Fingers Crossed for AMAZING WEATHER like it has been the past 3days here!
last night I began making my ribbons with names on them for all the people I am walking for. They are smaller than years past but i think they will be much easier to carry. I have some tent decorations and all little items I will need ready to be packed....now i just need to do some laundry and pack it all up and I will be good to go. Becca and Melissa are still raising $$ to reach their goals, so if you didnt already donate- please do it asap www.the3day.org/goto/marysangels every little bit helps and we are all so greatly appreciative! Thank You!!!!!
Becca and Melissa also decided they are going to be taking the Bolt Bus here on Thursday! I will be picking them up from South Station!!! WOOHOOO!!!!!
I got my Tent Mate- her name is Debora V. Graham....I tried to "stalk" her out on Facebook...but I was not successful with that... Deb- Get Ready, Mary's Angels are fab! I am in Tent D-68 this year...and I miss my old Tent Mate- Vicky! Becca and Melissa are my neighbors at D-67. Can't wait to decorate them!
Im ready and excited to walk the 3day in a new place! :)
